Teppanyaki Yokoya Shinjuku Review Summary

Disappointing experience, the lunch set was well overpriced (25,000 Yen/1000HKD per head) and service was beyond substandard.

There was a light flickering which we requested to be turned off but got rejected right away. However some guy turned it off 45mins into the meal randomly suggesting the initial server was incorrect in their reasoning.

The starters were very small, abalone was decent but the star of the show (beef) was poorly executed, we requested medium rare but the chef basically just fried both sides leaving the beef blue rare in the middle - unacceptable. The server asked us if we wanted fried rice and in the end was charged in the total when we thought it was included in the already expensive set.

The general execution of the Teppanyaki was very poor where the chef seemed rushed and even caused rice to scatter across tables.

Overall, it felt like a tourist scam and I strongly advise not to visit.

Wagyu prefixed restaurant in shinjuku. Very average and not impressive. 80 grams of wagyu seemed more like 40 and nothing was mind blowing but the bill. I cant recommend Yokota

Basically The food quality doesn't justify its price.

-The food was average, no presentation.
-The restaurant has a flickering light.
-The service was just not there. No offer to hang coat.

Very unique and high end teppanyaki experience! The staff were attentive overall and polite. We enjoyed walking the chef cook in front of us as it was like watching a master doing his craft. The food was good although may be too adventurous for some (depending on your comfort level of course). It was a neat experience that we are glad we had!

I arrived 10 mins earlier and the staff told me we are full, please wait longer.

21:00 we entered the restaurant and they gave us a private room. I told the staff i made advance booking and it was confirmed. I was expecting counter seat.

First Excuse : which ever customer comes first gets counter seats.
Note: there was two empty seats
Note2: two customers arrived after us and they got the seat straight away
Second Excuse: you did not select counter seat in tabelog.
Note: I opened my phone and chose a booking date 20+ days and showed the staff there is no option for private or counter seats

Seriously who would book teppanyaki and not watch the food cook in-front of you?

And plus i chose the most expensive set menu, its not like they rejected me because of money.

I am just disappointed how the staff was very unprofessional and i wasted travel cost and my personal time that i will not get back.
