A true culinary cultural experience at this wonderful Michelin-starred restaurant.
The owner/chef was extremely professional and attentive - He greeted me at the restaurant's entrance and enquired if I knew what to do with the sauces when my food was served.
The small restaurant was lovely - tatami, tasteful furnishings and a cute Zen garden. The service was perfect - the staff were extremely polite. The food was amazing. I had soba tofu and duck zaru soba. The soba is made on-premises. Will definitely go again.

My girlfriend and I visited this shop on our brief stay in Kyoto. We were initially a bit worried about the language barrier as neither of us spoke English, but the staff was very patient with us. The main chef even came out to teach us the proper ways of eating soba.

We ordered two sobas, grilled miso and tofu. The food was amazing. Everything felt very fresh.

Overall, the experience was amazing. Would definitely recommend.

Before dining here we were a little worried about the service as we’re tourists that can only speak survival Japanese. However with the help of other reviews and pictures, we were able to order the dishes and soba we wanted and it was delicious. The atmosphere was serene and I would definitely recommend others to visit. Just pay attention to customs and actions of other local guest such as taking off shoes or no pictures. We did our best to be respectful and both the chef and waitress were very polite.
