Cozy authentic place, in an old wooden building. The style looks to be traditional Japanese, all the other patrons seemed to be there for lunch.
They all spoke with the staff and seemed to have a really good time. I had no idea what was going on as I am a clueless tourist. With that being said I really enjoyed the atmosphere.
Food was great. I had the large tonkatsu which were served with some salad, sauce and kale. Rice was ordered as a side dish.
We also got a small soup which tasted delicious.

The absolute best tonkatsu and croquettes I have ever had in my life. It is a tiny little kitchen on the first floor of a house, no frills, seats maybe 15 people max. There are 3 tiny 4-person booths and a few single person counter seats. The portions are great for the price, and they have magazines to read and a TV to watch while you wait for your food. Will definitely be coming back again.

This place is an awesome. Traditional wooden house and the best Tonkatsu you will find in Kyoto. We were there early and 1st customer of the day. The owners are super friendly and nice. It's one of the best experience we had in Kyoto. Highly recommended.
