10 stars out of 5! From the literal moment when you are warmly welcomed into Tsukioka you cannot stop smiling until you’re wandering back down the street several hours later, stuffed, exhilarated, and planning your next trip back to Kyoto immediately. I won’t spoil any surprises but this chef is an absolute master of his craft. A rare creative mind that seamlessly blends the traditional and the modern. Every plate is a work of art both visually and culinarily. His entire team’s warmth, caring, and hospitality are unmatched. I can’t believe I’m even telling Google about this since I want to make sure I can get back in next visit when he’s surely earned a few Michelin stars and the write ups he deserves. But … sigh… here I am. He’s too good to keep a secret. Book in advance! And I accept leftovers as thank yous.
