Went for lunch. Small restaurant but they accommodated me despite me being a little behind the lunch hour. Service and food was terrific, you could watch the chef painstakingly grill the unagi in clear view. After finishing the preparation, the chef went to go buy rice since they seemed to have run out after serving me. Unagi (especially of the Edo-mae variety) may not be a specialty of Hiroshima but you can get good quality Unagi here without having to pay ten thousand yen and waiting two hours in line like you might elsewhere. Reasonable walk from the station.

It's a little over 10 minutes walk from the north exit of Hiroshima Station.
The eel is steamed using Kanto-style eel rice, so it's soft and fluffy.
The sauce is exquisite, not too sweet, and the soy sauce isn't too spicy. It doesn't interfere with your meal.
Personally, I would have liked the skin to be a little more crispy.
There are only 8 seats, 4 at the counter and 2 at tables, so reservations are essential.

When I called in advance to make a reservation, I was asked about the menu, and I asked for two pieces of eel (medium).
The parking lot is next to the store, and they came out of the store to give us directions, which was very kind.
I think it's because I decided on the menu in advance, but the food was served quickly and I was able to eat right away.
The eel was well-cooked with no burnt parts, and the sauce was not too strong and I could easily eat it.
I was planning to go out for a snack, so it was just the right amount. I think it's enough for women.
I think a man would be fine with a little more, but my husband said he was about 7 minutes hungry after eating the same average amount.
The liver soup and pickles were also very delicious.
It feels good to receive a new towel after a meal.
The inside of the store is small with a few counter seats and one table, but it was clean and comfortable.
