Worth the cost! Bring cash! Reserve days ahead. If you are planning to visit 30 minutes after making your reservation, then you are not giving them enough time to prepare to serve you. The guy takes his time and this place is a small operation. Respect their art. I went when it was just our party of four in the entire restaurant. He only has a limited amount of eels. It was very delicious! While it was only us, the pace was perfect, but if the place was crowded, then I can see that the wait could become a problem. I wouldn’t change his pace or methods.

If you are looking for a traditional Japanese restaurant where the chef focuses on that one dish he does well, this is the place for Unagi (eel).
The chef will take his time to do them right, one by one, and only prepare them in advance if you do a booking, so book ahead or be prepared to wait for 1 hour for him to take a fresh eel and prepare your dish. But it will be worth the wait…

The eel was really good and melting. From the bar we saw all the steps of the preparation from the living fish to the plate. It's a bit expensive but this is good quality.
