Isehiro
Tokyo
Japanese: Yakitori
Isehiro Description
At Isehiro, each morning, fresh chickens are expertly prepared and grilled over binchotan charcoal, a type of charcoal known for its ability to enhance the flavors of the food. The skilled chefs at Isehiro also carefully select premium ingredients such as Senju negi (a type of green onion), shiitake mushrooms, and shishito peppers to accompany the yakitori, creating a harmonious blend of flavors.
The restaurant itself is divided into three distinct areas, each offering a different ambiance - 'vibrant,' 'relaxing,' and 'celebratory.' This allows guests to choose the atmosphere that suits their preferences and enhances their dining experience. Whether you opt for their signature yakitori full course, which includes a variety of skewers from tender chicken breast to succulent chicken wings, or their healthy course featuring low-calorie options, Isehiro guarantees a memorable and satisfying meal.

Be warned, this place is popular. We got here before opening time on a weekday for lunch, and there was already a big queue. It did move quite quickly though, because the place has a few floors.
The way this place works is that you can’t pick your exact skewers, you need to order a set (at least for lunch). I got the biggest set of 9 pieces because I wanted to try everything. Everything was great except two skewers that were liver or intestine or something. Besides those, everything was delicious.
Random note, but is it just me, or does Japan love to undercook their chicken? I’m not complaining, I haven’t gotten sick yet and it makes the chicken super tender.
