Rokurinsha Description

Rokurinsha is a renowned ramen restaurant located in Tokyo. It has been selected as one of the top 100 ramen restaurants in Tokyo by the prestigious Tokyo Ramen Guide in 2023. With a rating of 3.78 and over 5,000 reviews on Tabelog, it is clear that Rokurinsha is a favorite among locals and visitors alike.

What sets Rokurinsha apart from other ramen establishments is its specialty in tsukemen, a style of ramen where the noodles are served separately and dipped into a rich and flavorful broth. The broth at Rokurinsha is simmered for hours to extract the maximum umami flavor from the ingredients, resulting in a thick and hearty broth that perfectly complements the chewy noodles. The toppings, such as tender slices of chashu pork and perfectly cooked ajitama (marinated soft-boiled egg), add an extra layer of deliciousness to the dish.

The restaurant itself has a cozy and traditional atmosphere, with wooden furnishings and counter seating where you can watch the skilled chefs prepare your meal. Whether you're a ramen aficionado or a first-time visitor, Rokurinsha is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the authentic flavors of Tokyo's ramen scene.

The tsukemen here is nothing short of fantastic, offering a harmonious blend of flavors that are both robust and nuanced. The star of the show has to be the noodles - they are simply perfect. Each strand is masterfully crafted to provide the right texture and thickness, ensuring they soak up the savory broth splendidly.

As a word of advice to future visitors, be cautious with your noodle portion size. On my visit, I accidentally ordered the extra-large serving, which, to my surprise, was overwhelmingly generous. This mammoth portion might be too much for most, and I found it a bit challenging to finish. It's worth noting that even the regular size is quite substantial and definitely satisfying. This is not a downside but rather a testament to the generous servings offered by the shop.

Very quick type of meal. We came 30 min before they opened at 0730AM which was perfect because you get in immediately once their doors open. Ordered the Morning Special and also the Fresh Shichimi. Both were super good!! Saw some locals requesting hot water in their broth so they can drink the rest of the dipping like soup. Recommend just coming early 30 minutes before opening, by the time we left 20 minutes later the line wrapped around the shop.

I like the springy texture of the ramen. The dipping sauce was nice and tasty too. Too salty for slurping up on its own so dipping the noodles in them gives you the right balance. Good honest bowl of ramen prepared with pride. My only complaint is that the noodles and egg were served cold. Would have really much preferred them warm so that it will not lower the temperature of the sauce when you stir in the noodles.
Things move fast here and it is not a place to hang out and chit chat. Eat, and go! 😄
