Founded in Kamakura in 2003 and moved to its current location on Kugenuma Kaigan in 2005, the name ``Noan'' has become a famous and popular shaved ice shop in Kanagawa Prefecture ever since.
Nowadays, more and more shops are using natural ice or pure ice, but as a shaved ice specialty store in the Tokyo metropolitan area, we were one of the first to offer fluffy shaved ice using natural ice from Nikko Mitsuboshi Himuro.
Moreover, the syrup made in the shop has been so delicious that even back then, recipe books for the syrup made in the shop are sold.
I arrived at the store around 10:20am, before it opened, but there seemed to be some customers already in the store, so I decided to kill some time by filling in the paperwork.
They usually open at 11am, but since it was a holiday, they opened almost 30 minutes early.

We offer sophisticated shaved ice that is not as sexy as the empty ice shops of today, such as limited-edition shaved ice made with seasonal fruits, matcha and kintoki, and other traditional menu items.
After placing your order, go to the second floor of the shop and wait for your shaved ice to be ready.
Inside the store, tables and sofas are arranged in a room of a single house.
This may be a bit of a concern for first-time users as it feels like they are intruding into your home.
The shaved ice arrived in about 20 minutes after ordering.

Waragu Kankitsu (Tamagoto Milk *Vanilla Ver.) is a shaved ice with two layers: egg, milk, vanilla syrup, and yuzu lemon syrup.
Cut Shonan Gold and mint are added to the top of the shaved ice.
At first, enjoy the harmonious balance of sweetness and acidity.
As I continued to eat the shaved ice, the double strawberry jelly I ordered as an option appeared.
If you order this, you will get a strawberry pulp jelly hidden inside the shaved ice.
Yuzu lemon syrup is served separately, so if you eat it while adding syrup, the refreshing scent of citrus will increase.
And it's a luxury that you can also eat strawberries with it.

Fluffy shaved ice melts easily, so eating quickly is very important.
Also, there may be customers waiting to enter the store, so it is important to be mindful of leaving the store without lingering too long.
Recently, many shops are offering shaved ice made with natural ice, and I get the impression that there are more and more shops selling shaved ice made with natural ice, such as mousse-type shaved ice made with espuma, and shops that are conscious of creating shaved ice that stands out on social media.
While I'm glad that there are so many shaved ice shops opening up, it's also true that there aren't any shops that give me the same excitement I felt when I ate at this shop a long time ago.
Personally, I think that shaved ice has become a copycat of famous stores, and I wish they would try to be a little more original.
This shop has not been swayed by the current trend of shaved ice, and serves its own shaved ice without changing.
I want our store to continue to be loved for many years to come.

This is a famous shaved ice shop. As expected, it was December and it was just after noon on a weekend, but after writing my name, I was able to find a seat without having to wait long. The store is housed in an ordinary house, and the first floor has been expanded to provide seating for customers, and there also appears to be seating on the second floor. The menu had various types of shaved ice and spaghetti with meat sauce. The meat sauce had a distinctive flavor with thick, chewy noodles and ginger sauce. The shaved ice seems expensive at over 1000 yen, but I thought it was worth trying. The staff was very nice and I would like to visit again.

Today I went to Machida to see Noan, which I was so impressed with last time.

This time it's a weekday, the exact same time as last time, but it's different because it's the last day. I immediately issued a ticket and numbered 324, and was called to number 266. At this point, there was a sign saying there was a 40 minute wait, and the waiting chairs were full. So, I ended up waiting for 60 minutes, killing time on a chair by the window at Muji on the 6th floor, so that's 1 minute per person.

Well, this time I ordered mandarin oranges. I actually wanted to go for the melon, but I saw on Instagram that it was sold out, so I had my eye on the mandarin orange before I went.

The most important thing is the taste, but personally I think it's better than the previous strawberry! The mandarin orange sauce has a strong sweetness, but it also has a bitter and sour taste, and since it came with a sauce that was different from the strawberry sauce, I was able to enjoy the sweet shaved ice to the very end, using plenty of condensed milk and sauce.

Why is it that Noan's ice doesn't freeze until the very end and is delicious? Because it melts in the sauce? And even though it has a round shape, it is not stiff but fluffy! And it doesn't fall apart when you eat it. Something is clearly different from other stores.

I'm glad I was able to slip in on the final day.
Maybe I'll go to the Kugenuma store as well. That's how much I was hooked lol
