Bread & Coffee Ikedayama

Nice cosy modern bakery/cafe around the residential. Walking distance from gotanda station. It was bright and open with the glass panels. Even before reaching, you can smell the bread.

There is a wide range of bread selection on display. You can also view the baking process from the glass. There are no English labels hence you probably would have to choose the bread based on what looks nice. Come early as there is a queue from 10am or so on a weekend. With a limited seating area, it might be difficult to get a seat. Although the staff were really friendly and helped us to find a seat. The staff speaks sufficient English for us to order drinks. Generally the sweet bread seems better than the savoury. Enjoyed the one with the cream centre the best. The croissant was light. The sausage bread was good too. There was one that tasted like seafood chowder on a bread but since it wasn't crispy or hot it wasn't my favourite. Cafe au lait tasted medium roasted with fruity, winey aftertaste.

There is a small toilet there too. I was too used to an automatic tap at the basin so it took me a while to realise the tap is controlled by the handle that goes up and down haha. Overall great experience and would definitely come back for breakfast again!

The bread was so good it kind of blew my mind. I ordered takeout before I left and their melon pan was simply divine, not too sweet and very chewy, you can taste the deliciousness of the bread itself and not the added sugar.

I wish I lived nearby, I would come here all the time!

My favorite bakery in the neighborhood for years. It is not cheap but I still love the baguettes and the pastries here. Comforting cafe area. I haven’t been able to buy the baguette for a while since it’s sold out.. hoping to have luck the next time.
