Eggslut Shinjuku Southern Terrace

The food here was really good but the experience was pretty hectic.

There was a huge line in the shop and you would assume that's the line for food. However it was the line for cooked food, bakery is on the right side so people can just walk in, they have different cashier too. That was not clear at all so it's quite frustrating when you spend a bunch of time in the line and found out you don't need to queue up at all.

The birds outside made me feel like I never left Australia 😂😂😂

I would recommend this place for grab and go style breakky, the cooked food is overrated for sure.

I don’t even bother to queue for eggslut back in my own country because at its peak, the queue could reach 30m long. However, here in Japan 🇯🇵, my hotel 🏨 in Japan is located next to the Shinjuku brunch. (It was meant to be 🤭)

Location : Perfectly situated opposite Shinjuku Train 🚝 Station at the Shinjuku Southern Terrace. You can get there easily via train, bus or car. (Except parking 🚙 will be an issue 🛑.)

Restaurant : This 2️⃣ story building 🏢 is shared with Luke’s Lobster 🦞 and Boulange 🍞🥖🥐. I actually think it is perfect 👍. Morning, eggslut and Boulange is really packed and busy but you could still go upstairs 🆙 and sit at Luke’s Lobster 🦞(they are not open yet, see my pic where they say you can share the tables). So sort of like co-share food spaces and why not? 🤷‍♂️ When I was there in the morning 🌅, it was already fairly crowded. However, the line was moving, lots of staff 👩‍🍳🧑‍🍳 cooking, the place was neat, clean 🧼 and tidy, and the smell of food and buns 🥯 filled the air.

Staff : He 💁‍♂️ was friendly and uber cool 😎. The queue was forming, he was alone but he still took his time to explain to us all the items that we ordered, read back the order 🧾 and calmly directed us to come back and pick up the food 🍔….etc. Well done! 👍

Food : “Chef driven, gourmet food concept” that’s the promise 🤞eggslut gives and they delivered. The eggs 🍳 took mainstage on each dish you can find on the menu. Sandwiches 🥪 without them could be just a burger 🍔 but with the oozing eggs, that’s a different story altogether. The warm yoke 🥚gives a different texture to the meat 🥓and bun 🥯. It brings out a strong 💪flavorful contrast to an otherwise boring sandwich. It’s just so satisfying 😋 but not overbearing, I enjoyed every last bite of it! You can even have it WITHOUT the bread 🍞! We came early, ordered, minimum wait time, chose to sit outdoors in winter ❄️ to eat and my group and I totally enjoyed our breakfast at eggslut. We totally savour 😋 the moment, food & friends. Perhaps, not something I will want to do daily but I will certainly do it again because it was just Boomzzzz! 💥

Pro Tip:
1.       Go early 🌅 (If you are doing breakfast)
2.       Consider ordering 2️⃣ different sandwiches 🍔 and you can cut in half and cross share with your friends? (But then the egg will explode 🤷‍♂️)
3.       Remember, you can sit upstairs at Luke’s Lobster 🦞.
4.       Take a set meal because it makes it more affordable.
5.       Sit outdoors and enjoy the sun 🌞and people 🚶🏻‍♂️‍➡️🚶🏼‍➡️🚶🏼‍♀️‍➡️going by.

The best lobster rolls. Generously packed with different options for how much lobster you want in each roll. Located on level 2 on the passenger bridge to Lumine.

Place is quite small with a food court type of setting (no table service).

This was a thoroughly underwhelming experience, the brioche lacks fragrance and texture, scrambled egg was way too buttery and salty. The inside of the restaurant is quite smokey and has pretty poor ventilation. The outdoor sitting area is flooded with pigeons too and makes dining out very unsanitary. Given the prime location, it gets very crowded too.

I've always wanter to try eggslut. I went on Sunday around 9am it was already crowded with few spaces left in the cafe. There's a couple of seats outside too but it was filled up quickly. A lot of foreign visitors as it serves western breakfast. Queue moves swiftly, and food waiting time was quite slow but understandable due to many people. The food was delicious and I enjoy having breakfast here.
