Pâtisserie Asako Iwayanagi

Excellent patisserie with amazing service. There are 3 places: main patisserie, bakery and salon du thé. Famous and beautiful parfaits can be enjoyed in the main patisserie and salon du thé. It is quite a task to understand at first the reservation method, but it is worth to read and get informed before visiting, if you are in the pursue of the best high-end patisserie.

Also I want to mention how kind and nice person is the security man out side the stores. We will visit again soon! Thank you for the service and extraordinary patisserie.

Both the patisserie/cafe next door and the creperie are very popular and understandably so. They serve seasonal desserts with creative and unexpected flavor combinations - for me it can be a hit or a miss, but it’s always an interesting experience. I am always impressed by their coffee and tea too. For each seasonal item they have a recommended coffee/tea that really completes the dessert.

MAY 2024 UPDATE

I've been going a few times a year since 2019. I still enjoy the seasonal crepes more than the fancy parfaits.

The quality of the food is the same, but the atmosphere and service is different now. They've stopped doing tea/coffee pairings for single order items, and the staff won't make a recommendation even if I ask.

They've since expanded the business to include a sit-down salon nearby plus a branch in Fukuoka. Now the crepes are served in custom-made steel stands with their branding. They used to be served in a glass and were easy to take out or enjoy casually on a stool outside the store.

This cafe was always about luxury and quality with high prices to match. I'll keep going, but these days the place feels less thoughtful and more and more cold and unapproachable. It's disappointing.

Each parfait had a very complex and creative flavor profile, unlike the normal combinations you can find in every other parfait shops, I enjoyed them overall. The portion size was quite large and didn’t work with the one order per person rule for me. I couldn’t have dinner after having afternoon tea here.

Intricate, jewel-like, expensive parfaits. We tried the Fig and Montblanc seasonal parfaits, and strongly preferred the fig - montblanc had too many competing flavors. The recommended coffee pairings were delicious.

The overall eating experience is a bit rushed and tense. The staff refused to show us to our table and share the drink menu until the exact minute of our reservation start, even though the table was already free long beforehand. We felt like we had to keep checking the clock to make sure we furnished before the maximum allotted time.

Good cafe, you have to reserve before you come.

The environment is very good. The taste of the bread is very good. The shop has 2 types of bread, side by side.
