Sekine Akabane

This is a branch of Asakusa's famous store Sekine, founded in 1923, but it's not just a branch.
All products sold at Sekine, including Shumai, are made here at the Akabane store.
In other words, it is no exaggeration to say that the core of Sekine-san is here at the Akabane store.

The garlic has a strong aroma and the meat tastes very meaty.
This filling and satisfying feeling is unique to extra-large shumai.
After all, Sekine is my No. 1 shumai.

Sekine no Shumai has a strong image of being a specialty of Asakusa and Shin-Nakamise, but you can enjoy the same taste here at the Akabane store.

Although it's located in a back alley, it doesn't stand out, but if you go out around 7pm, you'll find that it's sold out several times. There is no need to worry if it is before 7 o'clock.

Shumai is small in size, but even when it's cold, it's still delicious with the same classic Showa-era taste, so I only heat it up in the winter (*Photo shows 15 pieces, 930 yen including tax).

In addition, the menu consists of `Extra Large Shumai'', `Nikuman'', and `Anman'', but occasionally `Meat Dango'' is also available.

I was on a business trip to Tokyo, transferred to Akabane, and was searching for something delicious when I came across this place. It's hard to find the place, but I was surprised when I arrived. What a stylish shop! The atmosphere inside the store is reminiscent of a Japanese sweets shop.
I bought two boxes of Shumai (extra-large 10 pieces) because I was busy with work and couldn't take it with me in a large package. It was early October and the temperature was still over 30 degrees, but I was worried whether it would be safe to take it home to Osaka (at night) without an ice pack, so I asked the store staff and they said it would be fine. I wonder how things are going in midsummer.
When I got home, I tried eating it, worried that it might be damaged, but it turned out to be okay.
I'm an Osaka person who is used to Horai's shumai, but Sekine's shumai had almost no additives, and as others have said, it was meaty and satisfying. It has a strong flavor and is quite delicious on its own. I'm sure everyone has their own preferences, but my eldest son, who is picky about taste and texture, said it was the best shumai he had ever eaten.
Next time I visit, I will bring a cooler bag with me.

Personally, I prefer this to Saki○ken's shumai.

The shumai here is like meat, meat, meat. Much meatier than Kiyoken. It goes well with the accompanying sauce and goes well with alcohol. There are 2 bags of mustard, but 1 bag of sauce. It's slightly unbalanced.

If you want to warm it up in the microwave, he advises, `shake it with water to warm it up.'' I wish the instructions had mentioned the time to warm up. The customer service is very polite and always asks, `Salesperson, are there two people? ' I think.
