Gyopao Gyoza Roppongi

These might just be the best dumplings I've ever had. The flavors are incredible, and the entire experience is thoughtfully crafted. The restaurant is just a short walk from Roppongi Station, making it super convenient to find.

They recommend starting by sipping the soup the dumplings come in, then taking a small bite to taste the rich broth inside each dumpling — trust me, it's a game-changer. So satisfying.

The service is top-notch — attentive and friendly. As a bonus, everyone speaks great English, which makes it easy for foreign visitors.

A couple of tips: this spot is popular, so you might need to wait outside, but the turnover is pretty fast, and it's totally worth it. Also, keep in mind they only accept digital payments. We were looking for a fun, easy last meal before we flew out of Tokyo in the evening, and the lunch we had at Gyopao ended up being one of our best meals of the trip! The staff were incredibly friendly, accommodating and welcoming, and most spoke very fluent English. This was especially appreciated as they worked very hard to confirm that we could be confident which portions of our order were gluten free for my partner.
When we first sat down our server walked us through the paper menu and circled everything that he knew was gluten free before heading to the kitchen to find out if there was anything else we could order. The servers checked in frequently throughout the meal, although we appreciated that we could just order via QR code when we wanted an extra dish or another beer.
I had a great time pouring my own beer at the counter (which was cheaper than having them pour for you). All of the food was delicious, especially the soup dumplings, and even though they were sold out of their famous Taiwanese fried chicken, our server went and knocked out some extra prep work while we ate our starters so that he could make us an order of chicken to try before we left. We are so glad that he did, because it really is as good as he hyped it up to be!
This was the perfect way to end our trip on a high note with delicious, affordable food, and earnest and gracious service that was so welcoming I felt compelled to write this review. If you need a stop in Roppongi, don’t miss them!

10/10 recommend. This has been one of the best restaurants we have visited thus far during our stay in Japan. The hospitality is wonderful creating a welcoming atmosphere. Min was both our cook and our waiter and he was phenomenal. Always smiling and cracking a few jokes. The food here is incredible, it is worth the wait!

Amazing. What his is the best food we’ve had in Japan over the last few days. Super kind staff, with great recommendations especially Country and Suguru. The food has so much flavor!! You can even pour your own beer which is a lot of fun. We will be back before we leave!
