This is the kind of place that i always give priority on, a family run restaurant that local people would go there as well since 1923, chef is the 4th generation (四代目) and have passion on what he is doing, i sat on the bar table and watched him to cook the whole time..
Kobe steak was charcoal grilled in proper way and time, outside was a bit crispy with charcoal flavor and inside was super juicy, i had my mouth full of A5 beef flavor, just awesome!

It's a bit hard to rate this place as it depends on what you want.
I ordered 150 grams of their Kobe beef cooked medium rare. The chef even knew the Celsius translation of that, yet it still came out a bit overdone. That said, it was good aged beef and the sauce was good as well (usually I find sauces detract from the meat and avoid them). This cost $90 USD.
Frankly I was a bit surprised that the beef tasted as good as it did, but I routinely BBQ prime rib-eye steaks that are even better and cost 1/10th of the price by weight.
Am I glad I ate Kobe beef in Kobe, Japan? Yes! Would I do it again? Probably not.

My wife and I accidentally found this amazing Japanese-Western style restaurant just visiting Kobe for one night. We wish to go back again!
