This place is such a lovely local and authentic. It was near our hotel so we checked them out. The hotel staff helped us make a reservation because the restaurant is often busy and doesn't speak English. It was not hard to order because they had an English menu and the lady host was very friendly. We had a great time dining with the locals and learn more about Japanese culture. The sushi was very fresh and tasty. The price is cheap compared to the USA so we were very happy. We wish we could try the hot pot but we couldn't eat a lot due to jet lag. Next time then.😋

We wouldn’t have gotten into this restaurant if it wasn’t for a local friend who reserved the place before hand and found the place in the first place 😆.

The place is situated in an old sumo house, and they still kept some of the old traditional feature of the place such as the sumo rink.

Moreover the food was very delicious they came in large get one dish after the other, and it got quite overwhelming at the end because we weren’t expecting that much food to come after the first few dishes☺️.

Would definitely recommend this place, but be prepared for the little expensive price tag which comes along that the end😁.

Amazing “Chanko” hot-pot and sushi (sushi was good but not the best, but much better than ordinary Japanese restaurant because this place has its own sushi counter and a dedicated sushi chef.) The hospitality is amazing and good attention. There is a Sumo ring at the center of the restaurant and there is an event everyday, singing Japanese traditional songs by ex-Sumo wrestler (?) and some professional singers. Didn’t like the way they collect money from the audiences/tourists after the songs, thus minus one star.
Overall, the atmosphere, the food and services are magnificent. I will bring my foreign friends here next time.

10 minute walk from Ryogoku station, a very nice place to go with family, friends, and your business partners. Very nice food, the dishes come up pretty fast. The chanko-nabe (ちゃんこ鍋) is famous as one of the ex-sumo wrestlers founded the restaurant.:) Every dish was delicious!! The staff are friendly and helpful. The fish is straight from the fish market so it’s very fresh! Not over priced.

There are occasional performances happening in the center and when I went, there was a 15-20min performance;)

Saw some foreigners around as well! A great cultural experience and also a very different experience from a normal restaurant as well!

Super cozy:)
