Cute and popular old-timey establishment.

Gotta get there before opening to avoid the huge line. There was a collective excitement amongst all the people in line when doors opened.

Must get the beef stew. There are different set meal specials everyday and the portion for that is plentiful.

The icing on the cake wasn’t even the food but the super sweet older gentleman who served us. His cheery voice and demeanor genuinely put a smile to our faces and he conversed with us in English as well.

I would come back just for him!

The beef stew is the best, the meat was so soft and tender in the delicious sauce. I love eating the stew with the bread and butter, especially when dip it to the stew sauce. The line was long but I went there just when the restaurant open, all people in the long line got seated. The staffs were kind and helpful.

We arrived to an expected 20-30 minute wait which is pretty normal for this spot on weekends (they have a pre-printed sign). Our patience was rewarded and were seated in about 15 minutes.

We ordered beef stew, fried oysters, and bacon & eggs. The oysters were fresh, although the tartar sauce was a little flat. Eggs and bacon were cooked together and tasted quite nice.

The beef stew was subtle and deep in flavor, with a rich sauce, perfectly slow cooked beef, carrot and button mushrooms. I ordered it with white rice, but my companions got toast which was the better choice. Dipping butter toast into beef stew in an alleyway shop in Asakusa? Perfection
