Namiji

This small sushi restaurant is a true treasure, offering unforgettable freshness - seasonal sushi and sashimi, diverse sake options, and warm hospitality. It leaves me a lasting impression.

Sushi with rare and exotic fish. The sushi chef at Namiji has a fish compendium of all the fish he's served, all the pictures taken by himself. I counted well over 100 different varieties, and he told me it was at least at 130. He goes to local ports himself to select his fish, and should there be something rare or intriguing, he'll grab that as well, always expanding his fish repertoire. His sushi skills are fierce as well, each piece I ate was distinct and brought out the essence of the fish.

I had the sushi set, and included a wealth of variety across fish caught locally that day. I would love to come for dinner as well because I notice the impressive line-up of local sake (I counted six different makers at least) and a certificate he had that recognized him as a sake expert. It was also fun to watch him prepare the sushi by hand.

The local is relatively close to Miyazu Station, close enough to walk I think, and the building is cute, with a nice, simple interior. The surrounding area is a bit industrial, but I was there for the sushi not the view.

Thanks to all the reviewers and Google map. Had a good lunch before proceeding to visit the nearby Miidera Temple.

The friendly host and landlady also gave us information on sightseeing and gourmet food.During busy times, they give priority to customers with reservations, so reservations are recommended.Although it is a local specialty, Apparently they are at the mercy of bad weather and fishing closures on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.At such times, additional orders for side dishes and nigiri are handled very well.Black chikuwa tempura: Delicious.I went there in September.

I was surprised by their thoroughness in serving only locally sourced fish, as well as soy sauce and salt. I felt that what I was able to gather at that time, and the feeling that I was lucky enough to come across it, was very valuable. The rock oysters were great. I would like to visit again.
