So glad to have found 小田寿司. We all loved this stop during our visit to Amanohashidate. Its a short walk and they have 1 parking space for customers.

The quaint little sushi shop has 7 seats for a cosy and intimate setting. We waited awhile in strong wind and it was worth the wait!

The fish are all so fresh and thick cuts. The unagi eel were grilled so perfectly. The chef made care to check if our child took wasabi, and he was surprised to know that kiddo did. 😄

Note that they do note take credit cards and that orders are limited to 1 per person. This is to cater for all in line. Wait times might affect any public traveling timelines so bear that in mind.

If the door is locked, check if there’s a sign outside in Japanese that says they’re preparing to open. I waited 30 minutes and it was well worth it. They had one more of the snow crab roll (it wasn’t on the menu, so make sure to ask) and I was able to snag it—but the real star was the joumakizushi. Completely unexpected and incredibly delicious, with a piece of seared eel that really made a big flavor statement.

The shop is small and attached to a private residence. Meals take time to prepare, so don’t come if you’re in a rush.

Just found out it by accident when I was looking for halal food. The review said the chef didn’t use alcohol in making sushi. So I went eating there, the place was authentic. Only 6-7 seats available. The chef was making sushi just right on the spotZ the price was cheaper than I ate in Osaka. Sushi was oishii and I like it. You should try it!

We had lunch at Oda Sushi restaurant this afternoon and were led to a private room on the 1st floor which was really nice. Although, the 6-mat tatami room for 2 was a little dated, the large straight planks of pine wood on the ceiling gave us the good feeling of old Japan.

However, when the 8-piece Jou Inari Sushi came, it was a let down because the rice was very hard pressed and I could only imagine the equivalent at our local supermarket Fuji in Bangkok when we gobbled down the rice pieces.

No miso soup was served nor could be ordered at a price.

Probably best to suppress your sushi appetite and eat it in a big city like Kyoto or Osaka.

It was almost closing when we arrived (they close at 7:30pm) but they allowed us to take out and it was so good. Sushi was delicious (bonus was we saw how chef prepared it) and so well packaged! Worth the price
