Ramen Jiro

Ramen jiro sapporo. Bottom line : a very good , recommended Jiro, but sapporo has ao many excellent ramen, some unique to the region, so maybe go to this one if you've already sampled the rest.

Anyway, pretty big place but still a fairly long line towards the end of the day (official closing time is 9pm,but they stopped accepting customers to the line at 8:20). Standard sizes but you can choose quite a lot of toppings: ginger; curry powder (curry soup is apparently a thing in hokkaido); grated daikon; yazu paste; raw egg; and kimchi, which seemed pretty spicy. The noodles are standard, on the softer side. Chashu is excellent, the kind that falls apart in your chopsticks. Maybe there were even two kinds: a leaner and a fatty one. Either way, both were very good. Broth is super oily but in a good way. If you ask for abura it will come in pretty big chunks.

Hands down the best ramen I've ever had. The noodles texture and flavor were unlike anything I've ever had. This will make all ramen restaurants back in the US seem like a far cry from tasty.

Very different from other ramen shop! No English menu, but it's a very trim menu. Essentially the only variation is the size. Worth the walk and wait!
