A neighbourhood gem. Completely nondescript entrance and interior that will make you wonder if it’s even a) an actual restaurant and b) open for business, but venture in to find the most delightful bowl of katsu curry. The chef obviously takes great pride in his meat (commanding us to taste the katsu before we ate the curry), and the tenderness makes it something exquisite. Both the house specialty curry and keema curry were flavourful, with strong caramel notes. I’d recommend getting the mashed potato that comes with each curry as a separate side.

I ordered a mixed curry dish, which was served with pickles, a sausage and a fatty pork cutlet. Curry was not very spicy and savory that I can say it is the best one in Kawasaki area.

A popular curry restaurant in Kawasaki that is only open during the day.
By the way, this store only serves snacks at night, so there are only 4 counter seats and 2 tables.
Water is self-serve.

I arrived after 12:00 on a weekday and there were about 5 people waiting outside the store.
I was able to enter the store after waiting in line for about 20 minutes.

This time I ordered this from the signboard menu.
●Top quality domestic loin cutlet & stewed pork belly curry (1,000 yen)

The cutlet is carefully selected loin meat purchased from the Yokohama meat market.
It is fried with minimal pasteurization.
First, sprinkle some salt on it and peel it off. The juicy sweet pork fat spreads from the tender meat.

The curry tasted like something you'd find at a Western hotel restaurant, with a sweet taste that shows the vegetables and fruits were well-cooked.
It's honestly delicious. This is my favorite type.
The ingredients are two chunks of pork belly. This is also soft and delicious.

The garnish is mashed potatoes.
It has an unusual sour taste, but goes well with this curry.

After the meal, a drinkable yogurt that tastes like a lactic acid bacteria drink is served in a shot glass. It leaves your mouth feeling refreshed and delicious.

This is 1,000 yen worth of cost performance.

Personally, I'm really happy that it comes without a cutlet and comes with a salad at this price.
But it would be difficult because it's a restaurant where the chef is a one-time chef.
Next time, I think I'll try the pork belly curry with more meat.
