Yoshi Sushi

The owner and his wife has ran this 2nd restaurant for over 10 years. His 40 years and counting of being a sushi chef is in full display as he performed wonderful craftsmanship in bringing us the finest ingredients in 18 separate dishes. He may speak little English but they take pride and care in getting us involved with his performance, the universal translator for us to communicate and a detail menu describing each dish in Japanese and English, followed by how it is prepared! A very lovely experience to end our stay in Hiroshima. Yoshi sushi is Michelin worthy!

Best sushi I’ve ever had, hands down. It is served as a set menu, multi-course meal and although expensive, it is absolutely worth it. The shop is ran by very kind, welcoming, and passionate people. They don’t speak a ton of English but it doesn’t matter. They make the meal a wonderful experience from start to finish. They even provide a translator device for foreign customers. My party and I happened to walk in off the street without a reservation but we were very lucky in that regard; they have limited seating and are usually booked.

Every single course was incredibly flavorful and each had their own twists. The tilefish, eel, fatty tuna, and egg dessert were highlights for me. It was clear the chef has tons of talent and experience, as he spoke in-depth about his techniques and long culinary education in Tokyo.

If I’m ever back in Hiroshima I will visit again, without a doubt.

Can’t say enough about the sushi quality or the wonderful experience provided by the owners. The other 6 guest reservation cancelled at the last minute, so my wife and I were the only two customers for the night. The owners told us in depth stories of the history/context behind each sushi dish (sometimes using google translate). They made us feel incredibly welcomed. Will come back whenever I’m in the city.
