Finally this wonderful ryokan from the Meiji period (founded in 1907) has reopened again. It was nearly destroyed during the heavy taifun a few years ago. Now the rescued old parts have been lovingly integrated into the completely restored premises. The grand dame of the house together with her active son have given us an unforgettable experience. We are on a trip through the onsen ryokans of Kyushu and this visit was one of our definite highlights. The dinner with local specialities was superb and the rooms are impeccably styled and comfortable. As a special surprise the dame of the house had arranged her friend, a teacher of kimono dressing, to come over and offer us a wonderful lesson in how to dress in a kimono. All in all a HIGHLIGHT!

This is traditional Japanese hospitality at its best.

I've recently visited 9 top ryokans, and Yoshino is my favourite. If you appreciate quality in any form, you will love this wonderful family-run guesthouse. Their attention to detail is remarkable, and the food is some of the best I've had in Japan.

I keep finding little things that are thoughtfully designed, and the historic building was recently renovated, which means all the amenities are brand new. There are three private onsens and one larger shared bath. The water here is hotter than usual, which I like a lot.

Amazing place with great food, large and comfortable rooms with modern equipment but properly antique look, very friendly staff, and a nice variety of small private bathes and a charming public bath *in addition* to the private bath in most rooms.

As I came to Japan I wanted to see a typical Japanese Scenery.
In this Ryokan I finally found what I was looking for.

This ryokan was amazing and I highly recommend! The service, food, onsen, rooms were all way beyond my expectations!! The room I booked came with it's own private onsen. The shared onsen at the hotel was also outstanding!! The family running it was very welcoming and wanted to make sure that my time at the hotel was perfect! They even checked on me at the train station to make sure that I got on the right train after I checked out. I had an amazing time and can't wait to return! I highly recommend!!
