Gyokuseiya

Took two hours to land my hands on it even though I joined the queue half an hour before it opens (there was already a significant line when I arrived, around 7-9 groups before me). I came to try because of the highly rated reviews and did not know what was it. So, it tasted like warabimochi mixed with rice. The mochi was very soft. The red bean paste and soy bean were very very fine. It is very delicate and exquisite snack. Was the wait worth it? I didn’t think so until I realised I had cravings for it the next day.

Over 120 years of tradition, this place is run by a lovely couple but due to hand made and takes so much time to prepare they can only serve limited amount and little efficiency.

Under the summer heat, dripping sweat, I waited for 40 mins for about 10 people line. I spoke to the lady and she said depending on weather and etc, queue get less around 16:00pm, but still you should expect around 1h - 1.5h of waiting time for this place.

Very long line. I had to wait for an hour. Taste great. The best Ohagi (Japanese rice dumpling with red bean curd) shop in Osaka.
