Madam Koran Reviews

Madam Koran Google Average Rating

You’ll be welcomed in a very traditional house in the heart of Kyoto, near by the Imperial Palace.
An old lady guides you through the menu: typical Chinese with a Japanese reinterpretation .
The food overall is good (century egg highly recommended).
It’s a bit pricy compare to other Chinese restaurants but worth the experience.

Small little restaurant that’s deservedly received a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand rating. Don’t expect much by way of ambience but the food doesn’t disappoint at all. Each of the dishes we ordered was really good. The service was extremely friendly. A must visit while in Kyoto.

Order a mini kaiseki lunch for 2,800 yen

Appetizer (steamed chicken) green onion sauce
shrimp chili sauce
Spring roll (peas/sakura shrimp)
Mackerel lemon sauce
Dongpo Burger (specialty)
Sizzling burnt
Dessert (tapioca milk)
(Additional) Dandan noodles (1000 yen)

It is an amazing cost performance.
The shrimp chili and Dongpo burger were exquisite.
When I crushed the scorched rice to eat it, it really made a sizzling sound.
The added dandan noodles are straight noodles with low water content, which are also delicious.

The service, including the speed at which the food was served, was perfect.

The cost performance of the mini-kaiseki lunch menu is at an astonishing level.

It was delicious.

I'm very satisfied.
