I love this place. Quiet, cozy, and the green tea is superb. I am not that fan of green tea but the one that was served to me is exquisite and no after-taste. This is such a memorable place for me. Won't forget this encounter.

It's a nice mom-and-pop tea store with a cafe inside, in the middle of a retro shopping arcade and just in front of a shrine. The area itself is just south of the crowded Sanjyusangendo and Kiyomizu Temple, so it's a nice spot to relax and unwind. I actually picked up this place on Google Maps just because the name is the same with LA Angels Otani Shohei lol.
I tried their matcha soft cream served in a waffle cone with some red bean, shiratama, and candied chestnut. I've had thicker matcha ice cream in Uji before, but considering it's just 550 yen it's practically a steal since Kyoto can get really pricey with touristy prices. Highly recommended if you're getting sick of the tourist crowd in Kyoto.
